River Bend - An Urban Town

River Bend, MO is a small village located in Jackson County, Missouri. The population at the 2020 census was 10. It's the third-largest town in the district. In 1952, the Riverfront Development Corporation built the River Bend Dam to create a large body of water to be used as a navigable route for the townsfolk. The town grew rapidly during the 1950s and 1960s, due to its location near St. Louis International Airport. River Bend was an ideal place to purchase homes in a high growth area. With the passing of the last several years, River Bend has started to fall behind in the development of communities in Illinois and Missouri. In the last two years, more residents are relocating to other parts of the country. Due to this, property values in River Bend, MO are not going up as quickly as they have been in the past. The town was actually built on land that has since been sold off and redeveloped. River Bend is a very rural area and the houses are not usually of much value due to the fact that they are not built on the best land available. There is not a single commercial business to be found in River Bend, MO. However, there are many businesses that operate on a day to day basis. A grocery store, gas station, and a few restaurants exist. There are also a number of businesses that operate at night, such as an adult club and an ATM. River Bend, MO is home to several companies that have made it their headquarters.
