Blue Springs, Missouri - The Little Gem

Blue Springs, MO is a small town located in the northern part of the state of Missouri. Blue Springs is situated 18 miles south of downtown Kansas City and the tenth-largest city in Kansas. It's also home to a multitude of museums and cultural attractions. As of 2020, the population had been around 52,567. The Blue River flows through the city. The city's main commercial district is located on the west side of town along the Mississippi River. The river is named for a local citizen, Moses Blue who lived near the river. The Blue Springs Museum is one of the most popular places to visit in Blue Springs, MO. There are several exhibits about the history of the town, including the historic time period when it was a thriving mining town. There is also a historical museum which tells of the history of mining, as well as the people who lived through that era. While visiting in Blue Springs, MO, it is possible to see the city from the top of the historic courthouse. This view is available from the observation deck on the west side of the building. Visitors can walk up a set of stairs which leads directly to a small patio which overlooks the river. Other great views of this area include the view from the St. Francis Park. These two areas provide visitors with a unique vantage point of this small but historically rich town.
